Hainan Yu

I am a PhD student in Psychology at the University of Luxembourg. My doctoral research focuses on understanding human collaboration and collaboration skills using video games.

My research experience spans from deep learning and reinforcement learning to human behavioral research and user studies.

I am curious about the potential when AI, humans, and games come together. I use games as experimental environments, both for implementing agents and for studying cognition and behavior. This reflects my broader interest in how interactive systems can serve as scientific platforms with real-world impact.

I engage with games from multiple perspectives: as a player, designer, critic, and researcher. In my spare time, I am an independent game designer and music producer. I also enjoy analyzing game narrative and game music. I am always fascinated by how games and music can deliver stories full of emotion and resonance.
